The Seashore Lines is working with the Volunteer Railroaders Association to operate motorcar excursions running from Cape May station to the Cape May Canal. There will be plenty of opportunity for a closeup view of the wildlife that lives in the marshes ... as long as the critters feel like coming out.

Excursions will run the first weekend of August, the 5th and 6th, and Labor Day weekend, Sep. 2 & 3.

Departure times are every hour on the hour starting at 10am with the last departure at 3pm.

Tickets are just $10 for adults and $5 for kids under 12 and will be available on the platform starting at 9:30 each day.

Parking at the Cape May station is limited to visitors to the Welcome Center and bus passengers. If you cannot find street or lot parking nearby, there is a free Park & Ride lot a few blocks away. The Park & Ride Lot is located at 921 Lafayette Street, Cape May (Cape May Elementary School) 12:00 noon to 11:00 p.m. daily during the summer season. Customers will be able to use Parkmobile’s mobile applications for iPhone, Android, and Windows phones to conveniently pay to park on-the-go. To use the Parkmobile system, customers can register for free through the app or at Once registered, they can use the mobile app, internet, or call the toll-free number listed on the Parkmobile meter stickers and signs to pay for parking. Enforcement officers will be able to see that a motorist has paid with Parkmobile using a wireless handheld device.

We're looking forward to seeing you in Cape May!

Customer Notice: Rio Grande – Cape May City service is suspended due to the high volume theft of track material; specifically, tie plates and track spikes, along with the destruction of crossties, over a considerable distance of the Cape May Branch. These unconscionable and heinous acts of vandalism have caused extensive damage to the track structure, rendering the rail line impassable by any type of train movement. The Seashore Lines is actively exploring solutions to remediate this situation of ruinous proportions.
